Rx350 Intelligent Adaptive Front-lighting System (i-afs)

Recommended Posts

Help Please; I'm not sure how to tell if these are working  .

Is there a definitive way of checking they work, I’ve tried looking at the garage door but they the lights didn’t move so wondered if they are speed sensitive?

I’ve also tried with the switch in and out without any difference.

When the lights power up they do a little dance left and right.

Thanks for any help..

If it's anything like the system on Mercs, there's actually a way to switch them on and off, so would check in the manual to see if they are actually switched on at all.

If working, I believe they should turn with the steering wheel whatever speed you're doing.........

They only work when moving - think it is above 10mph. They only move up and down (on mine) when finding their home position on startup.

I see them moving when I'm tight round an island then come off it sharply. **

** Before somone jumps down my throat.

Not in a dangerous or even slightly risky manouvre. All laws and common sense applied and observed. All mechanical stresses are within the boundaries of the vehicle, my driving skills and all control is fully maintained at all times. Full observation is also sustained through full thought and conciousness of the surrounding area. I do not endorse leaving an island sharply or driving tightly around an island.

Lol mate, that's quite a disclaimer, to be honest I'm not even entirely sure I understood what you meant

That's bizarre if they only work when moving - I thought the point was that it would give you more light in a particular direction if you're about to go that way, and is therefore only based on steering angle - that's the way it works in our Merc anyway, if you sit with the car stationary and turn the wheel, you can see the light turn too..........

I believe the BMW's track when stationery too.

I guess they suspect you would be moving to get round the corner. Who knows what was going through their minds when they designed it.

Maybe they are airing on the side of caution - someone could suspect you were flashing them when really you were turning to move off or something?
