Arrrrrrrggggghhhhhhh, Please Can Someone Help Me

Recommended Posts

last week i did a dianogstic on my 1992 ls400 as the car was sort of jolting as if you are driving about 40mph+ and you press the brakes and the revs drop down a bit then you press the gas pedal that is the best way to describe it.even worse on cruise control as it runs even terrible.i got codes 67 & 68. i have fixed the OD direct clutch switch speed sensor and the kickdown switch.i took the efi fuse out for more than 10 secs and then took it for a drive today it is still doing it so did another diagnostic and the OD light is blinking very fast all the time so i presume the problem there is fixed but now the ecu light has come up giving me code 21 which is the left bank main oxygen sensor.could this be the cause of the god awful run.i am getting to the point where i am getting peed off with this now.please please can someone help me.its more of a splutter when you reach speed of about 40 or 45 mph+

thanks

How does that saying go.... if you can't say anything helpfull then p*** off........

ssls400... sorry to hear of your poor running, can't offer any direct help, wouldn't have thought a lambda would give the symptoms you describe, might be worth taking it to a garage who can read, clear and interpret what the fault codes mean, there can be associated failures that bring up an incorrect fault code so you have to "know" the fault and symptom to arrive at a fix. It will probably cost less in the long run than just replacing parts till its fixed.

Missfires like this are usually to do with the high tension side of things so if you want a guess it would be coils/leads/plugs.....

Good luck

Pete

Do me a quick favour.

Park on the flat somewhere quite like a trading estate etc with the eninge at normal temp.

Now put the car into N and put your hand on the gear stick very lightly.

What you are looking for is a smooth feel through the stick and not any small miss that can be felt though the stick and you might be able to hear the revs drop aswell at the time. The miss might very very small, but you should be able to spot it. try this for a minute and let me know if it idles super smoooth with no lillte bumps through the gear stick. If smooth then you have no miss to find and you can confirm that your LS400 coils, lead, plugs and rotor arms/caps are working fine.

I had a miss and changed the above to fully remove any miss. The car has not missed a beat since.

Try this first and let me know. What is your current fault code today?
