Cambelt Change!

Recommended Posts

I need to get my cambelt change some time soon and have been quited £350 from a local garage and about £380 from Lexus Leicester.

I always thought you could get the parts for around £120 and then it's a 3 hour job for a garage. Can anyone shed some light as to whether this is right?

Also, how much is a pollen filter? Is this the one under the glove box?

Thank you.

Does these quotes include VAT? Your local garage seems expensive compared to Lexus. For sake of £30, I'd get the job done by Lexus, have you tried another local garage- they maybe cheaper?

I'm sure when I bought my timing kit from Lexus Leeds last year, I was charged £50 for the tensioner, £50 for the idler and £28 for the timing belt.

I'll ring up a few lexus dealers later on and see if i can get the parts for £130 and then there are a few garages round my way that only charge £40 an hour and so should be able to get it done for around £250

Is the cambelt change a job any decent garage can do properly, or is it a bit specialist and therefore best at a dealer (forgetting price) ??

Thanks everyone for the advice, just out of interest if i take it to a lexus garage can i get a car while mines being done?

You should be able to get yourself into a IS250/IS220d if you get the job done by Lexus.
