Platinum Ice Owners - Paintwork Repairs

Recommended Posts

Am I right in saying that silver cars are very difficult to do paintwork repairs on?

Some guy has just scratched the lower part of one of my doors today in the work car park. It's only 1 inch long but is down to the primer. Only had my car two weeks as well!!!!

Years ago I had a similar issue with another silver car, I got the scratch master to come out and he said he couldn't do it. Something to do with vertical panels and silver paint - you have to repaint to whole panel otherwise it looks a mess.

Grrrr....

Most colours you will need to do the whole panel, it is not as difficult as it use to, my mate touches up cars everyday and it aint that often you can tell he has done it...

I have just had my car repaired , royal saphire. perfect match but only at dusk can you tell it has being done, only coz I know which panel it is but it will weather..

Black, white & silver cars can be a nightmare to paint but a very skilled sprayer can tint the paint to blend into existing paintwork without spraying whole panels and sides.

My Platinum Ice IS200 is also due for paintwork so I'll let you know how it turns out, if it's done before yours!

That would be appreciated thanks!

The drivers side now has scratches on both doors. The drivers door has a scratch which has been badly filled in, the rear door now has a scratch thanks to the careless work colleague today :(

Depending on where the scratches are eg top / bottom of the door just get that part of the pannel blown in. After buying my lex from Lexus Southend i noticed they must have damages it because they got a smart repairer to do a "spray can" blow in on the bottom of my drivers door! :tsktsk:

So i got the place i work at to just re-spray the bottom of the drivers and passengers doors and blend it in! cant tell it was ever done! But Plat ice or most solver cars are a nightmare to blend in or even colour match!!

Tom.

I just had my paintwork done. It is Platinum Ice. The Front lower spoiler was scraped, The drivers front wing had a five inch deep scratch, on the top part of the panel, the passenger door had attempted theft damage along the window edge and the passenger mirror had a scape.... The joys of on-street parking :shutit:

Anyways, I got a mate who specialises in touch ups. He works mainly for local dealerships repairing light scrapes and scuffs, no major accident stuff or rust... He will not go near the stuff...!! He knows his stuff and fixed all this for £180 You could not tell this car has been painted. If your sprayer knows what he is doing he will match with no traces. Go to someone who is known and recommended. Just don't pick a name out of the phone book.

p.s the best way to check your paintwork is at a filling station at night. Nothing hides under those forecourt lights!

My car has brand new wheels and flawless paintwork. You cannot tell it is a '99 with almost 100k on the clock. I get envy from late model Audi A4 and BM 3 series owners whose cars look like every other Audi A4 and BM 3 series on the streets which are full of Audi A4's and BM 3 series... as i said before, my car has to be parked on the street and it really does turn heads because it is different, yet, parked next to mine, the german tanks, costing four times more never get a passing glance... just too many about to be individual.
