Bulbs

Recommended Posts

Thanks Steve, but should I worry that both gone? What is the likelihood?

Have they both failed at exactly the same time ? e.g. did you see via the bulb warning on the dash ?

Thinking about it, I had mine both fail within a few weeks of each other. Which I guess is not that unusual given that they'd both be the same age and have the same amount of use, assuming that they were the original bulbs.

Sorry for replying late, I haven't had the chance to check my car so will have to do it on Monday (on my rest day).

However, for some reasons the fuse box is near the engine (next to the battery). Not good with cars, so will have to take it to a local mechanic.

dazz32, no I haven't changed the windscreen.

It's really annoying...

Sorry to resurrect this thread but seeing as I've now got my car back I'll be changing the headlight bulbs shortly before I put it on the road including the installation of HIDs but seeing as my car has got new headlights, well second hand ones but the drivers side one is different as the original drivers side from the replacement pair that I bought off the forum got was damaged by the garage so had to source one from a breakers; will the fitments of dipped and main beam remain the same? There wasn't any revisions to bulb fitment during the life of the IS200 was there? Wanted to know this as drivers side and passenger side headlights are off different age cars IIRC, with drivers side one being of an 03 plate and passenger side off I think a 51plate.

If there both standard headlamps matey you'll be fine as the bulbs are the same in them all, apart from the ones with the factory fit hid kits :) the only main change in the lighting was the front fogs, where they changed the bulbs to a H3 from from the old 9006 HB4 changed from about 2003 iirc :)

Main Beam 9005

Dippied beam 9006

cool. they're both standard headlights mate and as for the fogs, they're the original ones that were on the car, I'm so lucky that they were saveable! not even a scratch on the drivers side fog light I think. I had a hunch that I'd be ok with them and that it was just pushed back with the bumper as there was no visable damage to the fog light itself from the front or back. any recommendations of what bulbs I should get for my main beams mate as will be putting HID's in dipped so want something that'll complement them well and last long too but also perform just as well.
