Finally got one on tuesday,it's a black, with black leather interior with 82k on the clock,X reg.

Will get pictures up later, been to busy driving and enjoying the car!!!

Now,i have a problem with the keys,i only have the "spare",the one without the boot release on the it. I went down to Lexus Birmingham, apparently i need a new ECu + key begining made, with a total cost of £1125 :shutit: .

Is there anywhere else that i can get another key made,so incase i ever to loose this one,i know i have a spare one?

Your dealer is right, if you have a 2 button key (not the 3 button master key which has the LOCK, UNLOCK and BOOT RELEASE buttons) then you cannot add additional keys- its new ECU, locks and keys time.

Try and contact a local autolocksmith specialist, they might be able create a spare key from your 2 button key- worth a try...

Welcome to LOC....

Installing new alarm wont help - if you lose the key you still wont be able to get around the immobiliser - its part of the ECU - thats why you'd need the master key in the first place

I'd keep very good care of that key if I were you

Hi - Jap

I'm in the same situation - 1No. 2 button key.

I bought a blank uncut key and a used key with transponder (from eBay £25 approx for both) - added transponder to blank key got it cut to match existing 2 button key but havn't got the transponder reprogrammed as yet - contacted a few key companies and they said need a ecu etc but could match new key and ecu for £ 350.

I have heard that you can have a transponder copied and that is what I am trying to have arranged at some point - ie have it matched to my existing transponder.

From my investigations so far basically it will cost a min of £350 to have a new ecu & key.

Definetely would suggest contacting a few key companies near you - usually have mobile guys you can chat problem through.

I am busy workwise at the moment but need to sort my key situation - I guard my key with my life at the moment !!

Is that definitely the case on the GS ? Because it's not on the IS, a 2-button key *might* still be a master, and you can tell by putting the key into the ignition and seeing if the dashboard "Security" light goes off immediately (master) or stays on briefly before going off (non-master). The number of buttons doesn't necessarily say whether it's a master key or not. I have no idea if this is the same on the GS or not so apologies if this is irrelevant.

yes i've thought that is the case

well the lady said, that if my key can open the boot and lock the glove box then i can use this as the "master" key to re-programme the new key if i was to get one

i've not lost a key yet in 4 years of driving, and don't plan to anytime soon,i'm just really paranoid with the key now though, where ever i go i'm checking if i've still got the keys with me

i know a mobile auto spark that takes ure ecu and reprograms ure ecu to 3 new keys for 400 quid, in cheshire

If you have a master, this should not be needed. If you don't have a master, this is the only way.

I believe a two button can be a master on a GS, though not 100% sure. Security light is the way to tell thou (above). I have 2 button masters for my IS.
