yes, just looking again, the oem 'kit' does appear to be just a mic and toggle switch..

i dont think the software for voice recognition is inbuilt though.. would mean building a piece of software/ kit to interface in place of the old remote and still wont work while on the move.. :<

i was talking about trying to modify so that it will work on cd based nav.

If you are going to try this,

Multipin connector to DVD Unit (black), then there were 4 wires to the mic lead (white connectors), & 2 wires to the switch

Yep it is literally 70 quid for a switch and a microphone ( ) so rather than buying that would be better to just pick them up from maplin to give it a go.............

The way I see it, it seems as though the parts are shared quite heavily across the range, so if you look at when the LS first had voice recognition, there's good chance that it was the same nav unit across the range but they just didn't add the switch and mic to make it happen in the other cars.........

any chance of a pic of the back of the boor nav unit?

the wiring semms the same on both cd and dvd but i havnet seen the dvd version to compare..
