Spark Plugs

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure if the spark plugs have ever been changed on my IS200 (52K miles, 9 years old). When I phoned up the garage who did the last several services, they said they couldn't see any sign of them being changed, and they should really have been changed after 6 years (or 60K miles).

Should I be concerned about this ? Should I perhaps take one of them out and have a look at it ? If I did, will it be obvious if it the original plug from new ? If I'm on the original plugs should I really be thinking about changing them now rather than waiting till I next get it serviced ?

I used to have iffy starting on cold mornings until i changed my plugs. If you can afford it i would change them anyway if you've had the car over a year and don't think they've been changed, plus i noticed a tiny bit extra grunt low down with the Denso IK20's. Really easy job to do, airbox off, charge pack out, switch plug and reverse x 6

Nope. There are only 4 plugs in that pack hence the price!! Plus they only list 6 & 8 cylinder engines as compatible lol. You need 6 plugs 2D. Best bet is the Denso IK20s from US eBay for performance or SK20s if you want the long life. SK20s are stock plugs. Also can look at the NGK iridium plugs too, but don't know codes. Just make sure you are getting 6 plugs.

Loving the fact the IS200 in ur Sig is FWD lol!!

I'm no automotive expert so may be missing something, but I can't say I've ever heard of Brisk spark plugs from the Czech Republic. Personally I'd be steering well clear of them.

Most people here seem to go for the Denso IK20s, which is what I just got from eBay US earlier in the week - linky

NGK IFR6A11 are also listed as compatible plugs in the online workshop manual for the IS200.
