Tdi Pully

Hi All,

Just would like to have your comments or advices on replacing the supercharge pully. Saw upgrade pully available in TDI which claim to increase from 0.35 bar to 0.6 bar. Anyone could share experiences or thoughts. Not sure if any other modification required e.g. injectors, ECU, etc.

Thanks

anything above the 0.3 standard setup and your risking your rods appearing on the wrong side of the engine.

If you want to up the boost then you really need to uprate the rods and pistons.

You will need a mappable ecu to run the fuelling, a Greddy Emanage ultimate would do, you dont need a full ECU like the FCON V PRO which TDi may try and sell you.

You shouldnt need bigger injectors at that sort of boost level.

Its 50/50 mate.

Speak to HyperSR at Wigan, they do the bigger pulley upgrade as well, they've had some engines fine with it, and some snapping rods. Its the Luck of the draw IMHO.

The magic figure that seems to be always quoted on here is 250bhp.... Most think this is the limit for a standard engine, but my info only comes from reading threads and info from those with experience, of supercharging, but like you say, each engine will have slightly different tolerences depending on its age, abuse to date etc...

Its not the figure, its the stress on the engine. You could have 1bar of pressure and c**p fuelling and only have 200bhp but still the same pressure on the pistons so they'll snap.

But 0.5 bar pressure, decent fuelling and be putting 250-260 out and the pistons may be ok.

Or you could have 0.3 bar decent fuelling and be putting down 230bhp :whistling:
