Do Any Of You Guys Have A Problem Refueling?

Recommended Posts

I am always having a problem refueling my IS220D. My average time at the pump is 6-8 min to refuel. No matter wheather I have the fuel nozzle in deep, middle or nearly all the way out the filler keeps popping. I can only just pull the lever 20% of the way before it pops again.

I have tried different angles and five different garages but to no effect. Any advice :crybaby:

That's weird, this used to be a problem with the IS200, but newer pumps have different nozzles so the problem slowly went away.

We used to find that turning it 90 degrees, or even upside down in some cases worked, but if nothing's working, is it possible there might be something stuck in the filler pipe?

Sounds like you have airlock when re-fuelling.

As suggested, hold the fuel nozzle at 90 degrees and also put the fuel nozzle half way in. Also pull the lever on the fuel nozzle 1/2, not full. This is how I fill up my IS200- should be no different on a IS220d.

I get this problem when I fuel in Texaco or Shell stations normally. Esso and BP seem to be fine.

Hmm I only fill at Shell as I have the gargae card etc with them. I wonder if others will report the same as youreslf?

When I had the original problem, it was only BPs where it would work normally (this is a few years ago now) as they had the newest pumps - they were all being refurbed in their conversion to "BP Connects".

Do the garages you use have quite old pumps? I don't know what the difference was, perhaps the nozzles are shorter now, but garages with newer pumps do not cause this problem.

I have this problem at my local petrol station, if i press the trigger more than 50-60% of the way it cuts off and within £30 worth of petrol i end up cutting off around 20 times lol...luckly like mentioned above a new petrol station nr where i work that i use hasn't got this problem...i can press the trigger all the way, now i can spend my money quicker! lol

Sounds like an overly sensitive fill pump. Try other stations and if the problem persists, take the car to your dealer to take a look.

The only problem I have filling up it the F'ing price :whistling:

Took the car in yesterday for few things. I had asked them to put fuel in at a Shell but as usual they dont read the job card properly and went Texaco. They said no issues at this staion. I gave them a mouth full asked them to go to a Shell as directed which they did. The replicated my problem and have sent a memo to Lexus for consideration.

I know this will just fall in the gaps and be forgotton about but hey worth a try.
