Help Or Info Needed

Recommended Posts

hi guys

i could do with a little info or help on a problem i have with my 2000 gs 300 sport sat nav

when i bought the car the touch screen had a check cd rom message on it when starting the car , and after 30 secs or so the screen changed to the usuall audio and air con functions, but no sat nav worked

i wanted to check the disc was ok so ejected it out of its holder, when i re inserted it all the fuctions on the screen, ie audio and air con have now disapeard and im left with just a black screen with the words check cd rom

iv taken the car to a lexus dealer and they say it must be the cd rom driver faulty.

iv now sent this away to be hopefully fixed

what i would like to know is

dose the cd disc also supply the on screen data for the air con and audio and the sat nav info

lexus tell me they have never seen the screen go blank , just by removeing the disc

is this true or faulse?

if the cd is nothing to do with the air con and audio touch functions , is there anything i need to check or do to get it back on the screen

at night time the screen has a glow to it , so theres power there but nothing from the on/off audio button and no sound at all from the system

any info would be helpfull

removing the disc shouldn't blank out the other functions.

I have a feeling that disconnecting the nav unit may stop all the other functions working, although I may be wrong. Maybe your nav unit completely died when you reinserted the disc?

thanks colin for your quick reply

when you say nav unit died , do you mean the head unit or the driver unit

because the head unit has life , although just the back light and a screen message but i think its the driver thats died

if the driver died would the screen go blank once it did

cheers
