Dealer Trying To Eliminate Suspension Rattle

Guys

Firstly, I want to set the tone of this post !

At the moment all is well as the dealer will try everything under warranty to get rid of the rattle I have on the front suspension.

So far they have renewed -

Shock

Control arm

Bottom ball joint

Both sets of brake pads

They are going to try a new caliper.

But, if that doesn't work, we have agreed that the noise will become part of the car.

What would you do if they can't get rid of the noise and I am left with it 'as part of the car'.

I was thinking of asking for all the parts that were changed on the drivers side to be done on the near side, but I doubt they will go for it !

I don't like reneweing suspesion parts on one side normally (for home diy stuff) but I am very please they are willing to give it all a go.

Cheers

Chris

You have a 2004 car, presumably not under warranty. Don't understand why they would replace stuff or are you paying for it?

It's well accepted that if you replace items on the suspension, steering or brakes then you replace them in pairs to ensure the handling is not impaired.

Well rattle remains, Lexus admits defeat graciously.

So thats -

New caliper

Drop links both sides

Control arm

Ball joint

New strut

New pads and shim kit both sides

We've agreed that it is a car with 60k, so this intermittant rattle isn't worthy of continuing with for now.

I'm going to try and get a conditional warranty, that if this rattle rears it's ungly head and something does fail, that I can get it done in the future FOC.

It's had two new shocks, but original top mount I believe.

I just want my car back for now - might have another go before the warranty runs out Jan next year.

Top mount is something I could get done locally or diy in the future, but for now I want it back !
