Change Drawer Won't Close

Recommended Posts

Good day

I drive a 1991 toyota Celsior and I'm having some problems with the little drawer by my right knee that you put your coins in for toll booths and whatnot.

Essentially the problem is it will not stay closed... the little catch mechanism will not hook for whatever reason and so it hangs out for me to bang my knee on when I get in and out.

Is this a common problem and is there and tricks to solving it? short of taking the whole thing out which I don't really want to do.

Many thanks

Not a common problem.

Just have a quick look at the hinge amd make sure it comes out all the way to connect to the latch. Quite easy to take out of the dash.

I had exactly the same problem, I took the tray out and fiddled about with the latch, had to pack it out a bit with a fine piece of wire under the latch hinge so it would engage, quite awkward and delicate to get working again, took me a few trys.

Sorry, not what you wanted to hear!
