Hi Loc'ers, got my lower balljoints replaced on Thursday.

Was driving on the motorway yesterday at 70mph (honest) and the car felt a bit floaty/twitchy. Would the geometry need redoing after lower balljoint replacement ?

Thanks

Tommy

Hey mate,

had mine done couple of weeks ago & had to have mine re set, although turned out i also have a bent alloy 2 :( you going WIM?

Thanks for the reply mate. I live too far away from WIM :crybaby: Tony e-mailed me the proper settings and i found a guy in Edinburgh ( 70 miles away )who set the geo to WIM settings, just wondering if i should pay him another visit ?

Thanks Nick, no mate, knocking still there :tsktsk: think it may be the shock.

The car just does'nt feel right after getting the balljoints done. There is also a rubbing/sqeaking sound coming from the front near side. Taking the car back Monday, so hopefully get it sorted out.

Well, just got the car back from the garage, the squeaking noise was the back plate expanding with the heat and rubbing against the disc.

The car still feels a bit heavier than before. The steering wheel doesn't spin back to centre when turning.

The mechanic said it was because the new balljoints grease was still thick and would eventually soften up and the steering will get more lighter. Is he talking $hite?

hello mate ive just had upper bjs done today and lowers about a month ago - i havent really thought if the wheel centres back after a turn but i will try it next time i drive the car and let you know - as for the back plate expanding !!! that sounds like twaddle to me --- more like someones lent on it during balljoint change and misaligned it - theyve probably popped it back into place now as if its the bit im thinking of they are quite thin and bendable
