Lexus Rx300 Key Problem

Recommended Posts

Can anybody tell me a more economical way of obtaining another RX300 spare key without spending a fortune. I just bought a used RX300 SUV and the previous owner or the dealership didn't have the key code and the car only came with one master key and I was told by the Lexus dealership that it'll cost about $250 plus $50 for programming the chip on my Lexus. Is there a way around this. There must be a procedure to program a Lexus RX300 key to work with my Lexus without spending a fortune.

Sorry, but you got the same info that I got when I just purchased my 2000 RX300 from a dealer. At least this dealer did offer up to make, and program, a second master key for me. On the other hand, I do not have the valet key...that I really could use. My understanding is that the valet key costs about $160, instead of the $250 for the master. The only difference is that the valet will NOT unlock the glove box..AND you can NOT make a master key from a valet key.
