Is200 Intermediate Service - Different Dealers = Different Schedule?

Hi all

I've just been quoted for a 9 year / 90k miles intermediate service:-

Wolverhampton - £205 inc VAT

Birmingham - £260 in VAT. (including a "10% parts discount for new customer")

The lady at Birmingham was saying stuff like: but we also change the differential oil and long life coolant etc etc.

Isn't it just a standard servicing schedule???

I always take my car to B'ham, they always can "find" extra things need to be done, without you notice it, the bill become twice as much.

not saying who is good or bad, just saying what actually happened.

I would use a good Indy if it's on 90K.

P.S. you can pm me, I am in B'ham and know a few good specialist around who don't charge a earth for their as good work.

To be honest, I am tempted to just go Indie with my trusted mobile mechanic but I think having all the Lexus stamps will help a quick sale which I might have to make in the next 2 months.

Or I could sell it now before the service and mot is due!

I'm really curious how much a standard dealer servicing schedule can differ :-s

I think it due to the fact the Lexus dealerships are just franchises. So the owning company of one Lexus dealer is not always the same as another. If each "parent" company has differing hourly rates for instance, the costs will vary between them.

1)diff oil gets changed every 20k so she's telling porky's

2)long life coolant lasts 100k

so your getting diff oil and a coolant change inc labour for £60 extra....bargin thats very cheap so i suspect she knows sod all and id hoping you just go away....the toyota coolant alone is approx £40!!!!!

also a 90 k is just an oil and filter and a wee check..
