Air Con Smell... Help!

Hello All,

I'm new here and I was searching for this using your search engine but with no results.

I had a horrible smell in my is200, when I turn on the air con. The worst thing that I have allergy to dust and few others.

And each time I have on the air con, I have attack of sneeze.

I would like to do something about that, I found something like air con cleaner on eBay, also I found the air filter under the glove compartment. But I cant find replacement on eBay.

How you call this filter?

What else should I do do resolve my issue. Air filter outside?

the filter under the glovebox is called a pollen filter - search using this term or cabin filter on eBay should be lots there - would not be expensive straight from lexus.

Smell is usually put down to bacteria build up in system i think-few choices here-

aldi were doing a special on aircon clean spray at £1.99 recently or its about £15 in Halfords

Quik fit do a full recharge and system clean for £40

I had the same problem a couple of years ago with my IS200. Bought some Wynn's Airco fresh on the net, followed the instructions for a clean with the panel filter removed (more thorough) and refitted the filter. Result - no more smell. As you are sensitive to pollen etc, I would replace the filter at the same time if it looks dusty etc. Don't know about costs but you might save something if you get it from the same supplier.
