Aftermarket Front Parking Sensors Rx400H

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Just got my '09 RX400h. The parking camera for the rear is all very whizzy but the vehicle will be getting parked on the street a lot for the next year or so, so I could do with front sensors too. Can anyone recommend an aftermarket front parking sensor system as the quote from Lexus for their system is £833?

Thanks

Steve

Have you called other Dealers for a price on the sensors? I'm sure there will be one who wants your business.

But (on a personal note) I have never found a use for front sensors...then again my mind boggles when I see cars like Aygo and FOX with rear parking sensors.

Not helpful, perhaps, but I paid for the Lexus Parking Aid LPA800 (front and back) and was disappointed. The enable/disable switch was not even integrated with the existing dashboard layout - instead they drilled a new hole to the right of the steering column with a small unlabelled round black button. And I use this button a lot, since the front sensors beep constantly at low speeds, worried no doubt that I am about to collide with the ground!

The rear sensors are better and are useful on dark nights because the rear lights are not strong enough to give a useful picture on the camera...even when the lens is spotless.

Its a shame that Lexus didn't appear to take into account reversing in low light conditions and how useless that reversing camera can become. It defies belief how manufactures (like Lexus) can spend millions on developing a product and forget about basic functionality like this.

Still the camera is useful to have, very difficult to go back :)

Ive got a Lexus rx300 04 REG, Im considering changing my front and rear bumpers to the ones with the Lexus Parking Aid sensors because the bumpers are damaged anyway(side clip for front one broken so it pops out on the side & rear one got couple of dings)

Question; How do i get it to work, Do i need the switches, buttons, module unit, buzzers and all other accessories, .... cabling ???

What will the whole unit contains to enable my new buzzer to work appropriately ?

Hmmm interesting post. I've just bought an RX400h SE+MM with parking sensors on the front bumper which appear to do nothing. (I tried driving at a friend yesterday to try them out.) Time to look for a hidden button perhaps...

if you got to a local car accessory supplier they will have kits with adjustable range, I have 2 fitted in the front of my RX450 as it comes with only corner sensors, also the camera in the rx450 works in low light
