Doin The Is200 Shuffle

Recommended Posts

Ok, first time poster, but long time IS200 owner - and I'll say now best car I've ever owned BUT...

This is driving me nuts. Just recently its developed a strange intermittent fault. Every 10(?) times or so I go to start it, the whole car just goes dead - no lights, no power, no clock, nothing. I suspect the immobiliser but not sure. Theres a very faint beeping seems to come from the boot for a few seconds. Bizzarely tho' I have to get out, lift the bonnet right up (half way doesnt work(?!?) close it and then get back in. This resets the car and the door lights ans security ligh flashes on the dashboard. Putting the key in often causes the car to 'blank out' at that point straight away, so its back to opening the bonnet... After about 20 (not exagerating) of these movements, the car will start and runs fine for a week or two. Happened last night and I got to the point of calling the breakdown guys out and lo and behold - 5 mins before they got there - it started!

I've tried different keys, new batteries etc but it still does it. What should I do next, to be honest I'm scared of the main dealers up here in Aberdeen - its £50 to breathe the air in the showroom (not really but yo know)

Anyone encountered this before?

Thanks guys
