Double Din Audio Conversion Ls400

Recommended Posts

Guys

I Just realised the audio illumination isnt working on ls400 mk3 i just bought, so started looking for a replacement audio/bluetooth unit but found i could get Audio, gps, touch screen and Bluetooth in single unit.

I have a question though, if i went for something like this could it play cds from the lexus cd changer ?

Be aware that there is no 'off-the-shelf' wiring harness to plug your proposed Clarion into the Lexus audio system. This is because most aftermarket head-units have on-board amplifiers, and feed sound directly to the speakers. The standard LS400 head unit is 'pre-amp' and has no internal amp, instead feeding its signal to an amp under the passenger seat, which then amplifies the signal and feeds it to the speakers.

If you wish to use an aftermarket head unit, you will have to modify your audio wiring to bypass the amplifier and feed from the headunit straight to the speakers. You will also lose the stock subwoofer, as it is fed from the amplifier.
