Snapped Cambelt

Hi,

I have a IS200 '99 plate and the cambelt snapped yesterday whilst i was driving on the motorway, i was roughly doing 7mph.....my tempertaure gauge went high, the fans started blowing cold air, smoke came out the back and front and then the car started to loose speed, i managed to pull over onto the hard shoulder where the car eventually slowed down.....all the lights on the dash came on and the car started smoking inside too!

AA came to assist me and told me that the belt had snapped and wasnt worth repairing due to the age of the car.....is this true? If i were to get it repaired how much would i be looking at?

Thanks

if the belt has snapped at 70 you will prob have a few bent valves...you might be cheaper looking for a complete head on eBay or if your car has done a lot of miles look for a low milage engine and get that fitted..
