Anyone Taken Their Lex With Spoiler Through A Car Wash?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

The lex is starting to get really dirt ridden with the temperamental weather lately. With the spoiler is it safe to take it through an automated car wash? Don't want it flying off as they always have warnings about spoilers at the petrol stations.

Hi,although I wash/wax my car myself I did take my 1st IS200 sport through an automated car wash once as was on holiday in Cornwall a few years ago with no prblems, however I dont particularly like or use them except I have to as they tend to leave fine scratches on your paint work.

My IS200LE had Lexus raised rear spoiler fitted. No problems at all with car washes - although I don't like them much because they don't do the best job. I am lazy, so I occasionally use them anyway.

I only ever put mine through one of the automated car washers once a year after the road salt has finished ( the one when it pulls your car through the various stages) for the simple reason you can opt for an underbody wash to remove most of the stuff.

I was once in the queue for one of the local hand washes until I saw one of them drop a sponge, pick it up and continue to use it without rinsing it! I drove off at that point.

Nothing beats a bucket of car shampoo and sponge, a watering can to rinse and then a chamois leather to finish.
