Rx400H Rear Handbrake Shoes

Recommended Posts

i seem to be having trouble with the handbrake shoes dragging. The shoes have the part number LN513GG NBK which the garage tell me they got from the lexus garage , they say they are actually a toyota part but i think they are the wrong ones . Lexus part numbers have 5 digits - another 5 digits so i am a little confused. Can anybody shed some light on this matter ?

How old is your car? Are you sure the problem is with the shoes rather than the cables binding ?The RX has a problem where the cables enter the brake back plate. Salt/water gets in and sets up corrosion which may lead to having to fit new park brake cables.

The part number you have sounds like an aftermarket suppliers number not OEM Lexus

There are 2 sets of part numbers for the OEM shoes

46550-48020/46590-48020

56440-48020/46580-48020

Both sets are for each individual LH/RH shoes.

Thanks for the help. The car is a 2005 so i will suggest possible cable problem to the garage .

Lexus have supplied :- 2 x 46540-48020

1 x 46550-48020

1 x 46590-48020

I think i will phone a different branch of lexus and see what part numbers they give me.

I thought it was probably the cables binding. Although it's not cheap as you say, if you check the cables out they are really well made and should last a lot longer than they do. It's not the cable but the point of entry to the back plate that causes the problems. My cables are starting their 8th year - all thanks to a little bit of TLC and some lubricant. Total cost so far -- about 10p.
