Good day to everyone. I am retired and decomposing by the minute. I ended up with a Lexus after the Ford I bought when the 3 year warranty of an X3 ran out. The X3, (not the very latest one) gave me the same pleasure as I would imagine riding a 'Penny Farthing" bike over a cattle grid. BMW sales I found ignorant, condescending and outright dishonest so no chance of buying the new X3 which I understand resolved all my pet hates about the one I had. I wonder how many others pay out for this superguard stuff not realising that it has already been done and you a paying them again for the same product.

I then made two requests to Lexus for information and no one replied. One request by email and another by phone so I jumped out my pram and bought a Ford Mondeo Estate with 5k on the clock and only when I came to sell it this week and buy the Lexus that I was the third owner. I only did a 1k in it before I sold it. It was getting five star reviews everywhere but the engine sounded to me like a can of marbles on acceleration and the rumble of tyre\road noise was such that it defied any of the reviews I read.

Prior to these two I had two Mercs both of which left a lot to be desired, especially the last Merc Approved. So no more Mercs, Beamers or Fords for me.

But before you all rush off to slash your wrists or jump out high rise flat windows, my experience with Lexus was almost magical. No pressure, and the car is simply superb. If only I had not jumped out my pram with Lexus, I would have save a few grand at least having not bought the Ford.

I am not a car person but I remember the joy of my first car quite clearly somewhere back in the late 60's and this feeling having bought the Lexus is on par. An excitment and a satisfaction rather than a premonition of doom and despondancy.

I am now going to search ( which I could not until I joined) to see if I need to use beam benders in France or whether there is a convenient :whistling: little knob I simply have to turn like there wasn't on the X3. One had to remove the back of the left light and remove the windscreen washer container before obtaining access to the tinies not visibile lever ever invented. The manual cheerily informs you that you will most likely die if this procedure is carried out by a non technician. Ironically, the BMW technician I sought help from did not know how to do it either and that was after looking at the instructions in the manual. But they did offer to change my lights when I went abroad which was very nice of them and would only charge me fifty pounds to set them for France and fifty pounds to put them back again for UK. It is kindnesses like that which makes this country great.

Thank you for having me on here and I look forward to reading some posts in between gazing out the window at my newly acquired beauty. I shall call her Knob as that was what my wife thought the number plate said having left her glasses in her handbag.

God bless Knob and all who enter her. :hocus-pokus:
