Jealous Or Just Plain Stupid

Recommended Posts

I took delivery of my new RX300 last Friday.

Extremely happy with it. Done about 500 miles by end of Monday.

My work gives me the chance to do high milage (35k-45k miles per year) and the RX300 has given me a new reason to do long journeys.

On Tuesday evening I drove 300 miles to Kingston-upon-Hull where I am working for a couple of days. Some guys from work came by train the next day, so in the evening we used my RX to take us for a nice meal.

Afterwards we decided to stretch our legs a bit so found a pool/snooker hall for a couple of hours.

Thats when it happened.

Some little up-******* decided to try and steal the Lexus badge from the front grill. Didn't manage to get it but have broken one of the clips.

They may have stopped because they found out it is plastic, I don't know. But it just irritates me why people do it.

Just thought I'd vent my anger with you guys.

Thanks.

the mentality of some people is beyond belief

what do they do with the badges anyway ?

had all the rear badges taken from my hi-ace van when it was a week old!

dont mind not having the badges but the damage they caused, using a screwdriver and just gouging away at the paintwork, would love to have caught them :tsktsk: :tsktsk: :tsktsk:

The badges are stuck to the underneath of skateboards. Each kid chooses a 'brand' i.e. Lex and then covers the underneath of his board with the badges.

It's for decoration but also when they do tricks that involve scraping the board along walls, railings etc. the metal badges can cause sparks. For this reason you are probably right about them abandoning the nick when they discovered it's plastic.

What really winds me up about this is that they (the kids) are probably thinking 'well if he can afford a car like that he can just go buy some new badges'.

I remember the vw badge nicking craze as i worked in a vw garage it was almost every vw that had them nicked .If this is the new craze i will debadge mine without a doubt ,as you say it is the damage the halfwits cause not the loss of the badge.

Thought about de-badging the car. - but what would yuou put instead of the 'L' in the front grill?

Lexus need to create a sport mesh grille for the RX that can be de-badged and leave nothing behind.

Unless you can remove the grille section and fix mesh in there?

Don't know what an RX grille panel looks like though so not sure if it is possible or not
