Seized Rear Bake Calipers

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Car in for MOT this week which it passed. '07 plate 44k on clock, lovely car. Lexus reported both rear calipers seized at a cost of £600+. Before I'd even taken a breath the figure was crossed out and replaced with £320. Something about genuine but different parts because of the age of the car??

Brakes are working fine and the MOT was fine too, any advice on this and what I should do would be gratefully received.

Thanks.

My 56 plate 60K miles had a sticking rear caliper and was replaced FOC this year. They have to send them back to Lexus for checking and was told that hardly any are refused but there is a chance the replacement may be rejected. If in doubt call another dealer.

Many thanks to Shepherd and Wozza for your replies, I thought I had read something on here about the calipers.

Anyway, I challenged Lexus Croydon on the issue, and am pleased to report they have replaced them FOC. They were a little sheepish when I asked why it took a query from me, but it just goes goes to show how valuable this forum can be.

Thanks again.
