I'd get the fault code read to start with. Or buy your own reader, theyre cheap enough on eBay.

If it appears to run quite well otherwise then hopefully its just something minor.

Alternatively, if you want to see if its an error that has appeared from being stopped and started a lot and taken for short test drives, you could disconnect the Battery or ECU fuse for a bit which I think clears the code. Then see if it returns after 2 or 3 journeys. 90% of fault codes Ive had or seen on cars are emissions related or those caused by a low Battery or engine miss-firing and having a bit of a wobbler.

Gearbox whine doesnt sound too good though...

Congrats on the purchase.

Is your car a manual? And is the whining mostly in gears 1-3? If so, then its probably nothing to worry about as it seems to be one of the IS's foibles. If you do a google search you'll find loads of people complaining about the same thing, even folks with nearly-new cars back in the day were affected. I don't think there's much to be done about it.

As for the engine management light being on...Hmm, you maybe have a problem with one of the coil packs, but that's just a guess of course. As suggested, try and get someone with a code reader diagnose the fault properly.

am I the only one missing a new weight shedding mod here?? silly question but why would you want to disable your passenger air bag? we all know the reason why its there right...

rear facing baby car seat, some cars have the function to turn it off, e.g peugeots have a key switch to turn it off.

its nice to be able to see ur baby when your driving. plus the car seat only just fits in the back with the front seat right forward so its awkward.

Yes, P0135 is the front most oxygen sensor. The easiest to get at luckily!

I have exactly the same fault on mine. It relates to the heater within the sensor. I've got a spare universal Denso one I will be fitting on mine shortly and they're only about £40 so will let you know.

If you go out on on journey for 5 miles or so and come home and plug in again, you will probably find it sitting there as a pending fault already. I/M system needs to see the fault twice to flag the CEL.
