Hi

My Battery goes flat if the my '93 LS400 isn't used for a week. It was fine in France over the summer after I fitted a new Varta Battery but now it wont hold charge during the week so I can only conclude something is draining the Battery. Are there any common areas that should be investigated regarding this matter?

Ed

ps. I've always been a Mercedes man but this week I decided one of my two car had to go.

The Lex is still here ! :winky:

The boot light could cause it, find some one you trust or a volunteer to climb in, close the boot and see if it goes out.

Another one is the owner's handbook suggests you turn off the remote locking if the car is to be left for a period of time, it's the little slide switch near the mirror position switch.

Thanks guys.

I'll investigate the boot light.

I had already started to turn off the remote locking but thank you for suggesting it.

Regarding the solar charger, that's an idea but ideally I'd like to rectify the fault. I know a good auto electrician but he's not cheap.

Many thanks for the suggestetions.

Are you sure you have a good Battery? You need to test it - a good way is to call the AA when it is flat :) they have a nice tester that would cast £600 to buy. I had a similar problem on my 430 and the bat was the problem. Make sure you have good clean connections on your Battery also that you have the correct Battery - amp hours and cold cranking amps rating.

You can easily check with a meter if any current is being drawn when the car is off. Do you use the radio because if I remember the 400 has an electrically operated ariel and if the motor does not cut out that will kill your bat.
