Number Plate Bulb!

Noticed I had a number plate bulb out the other day, and since I was in town this morning, I picked up a pair from Halfrauds (£2.99 for a pair of 501 bulbs! Fortunately, with a trade card they only cost 46p ;) )

What a farce changing them! I looked up the how-to guide, but really? 4 nuts, two poppers, plus the multiple trim clips inside and taking the cover off! Madness!

Plus, I dropped a nut down the inside of the tailgate too didn't I? Thankfully a spare was found in my van, but now I can hear the nut rattle inside the boot lid when I close it

locate the nut using a Magnetic extension pick up tool might help

Tried that - I've got two different magnetic tools, and neither could reach it (the access are very tight, and the boot lid taper narrows too much towards the seam at the back)

Trade card is great for consumables, like bulbs, filters, oil, etc.

This doesn't make pleasant reading for me as I too have a number plate bulb out.

If its that much of an head ache I'll take Halfords up on their offer of fitting it :)

I swapped mine for leds a while back and it took 10-15 mins. Its the same with everything though. A 2 minute job for one person can be a b***h and take 30 mins for another.

Definitely go with LEDs if you can as its such a cheap and effective mod. For £5 or so, they give the rear of the car a more modern look.

Not the best photo and it wasn't particularly dark, but you get the idea. Normal bulbs would barely be visible in the same conditions.

The hardest part about changing the bulbs for me was prying the holders loose since they're so tight (mine's were anyway). I was convinced they were going to snap or something but they're made of really hard plastic.
