Just ordered front and rear discs, drilled and grooved.

and front and rear EBC Yellow stuff pads.

I already have ATE Super Blue racing fluid - DOT 4

Cost me a small fortune, but hopefully it will be worth it, the brakes on the LS400 are crap imo.

I've 2 mk3's both with the braking system in perfect working order as lexus intended, but in my opinion it still doesnt cut the mustard, being a heavy car is its downfall, the front discs love to warp and the pads like to fade. I think the grooved and drilled discs should help keep the heat down, the Yellowstuff pads should be good also.. We shall see!

I am used to brakes being fairly dismal, my other cars being a non-ABS MGF and a Triumph Toledo. So, I instinctively leave more room for braking than most drivers do. Also, as a magistrate, I have to behave myself so I'm not driving at the sort of speeds where brakes are likely to get hot enough to fade.

However, there can't be any harm in upgrading brakes, whatever the car.

Be interested to find out if your mods make a worthwhile difference.

I'm a hgv driving instructor/driving skills assessor so spend all day teaching my pupils forward planning fuel saving & progress skills, I have to look further ahead as part of my job so it naturally translates into my driving style. As speed on approach to hazards doesn't achieve progress. PS i don't drive like miss daisy, just look further ahead & come off the gas gently brake in anticipation of keeping going. It becomes a bit of a game seeing how many roundabouts you can get on to without having to stop,

Agree with all your practical sentiments regarding anticipation, and looking further ahead than the car in front of you,-I wish there were more drivers out there who adhered to this basic and commonsense principle, passengers often comment on my sparing use of the brake pedal, -not that I thrash my LS400,rather, I tend to drive it sedately,(maybe an age thing, I'm 62....) but nice to know the powers there when it's needed.

A little update.. Fitted the drilled and grooved discs and yellow stuff pads... They took a while to bed in using EBC's correct procedure, but what can I say? They are amazing, totally transforms the standard crap LS400 braking system.

They do need a bit of heat in them to work well, But I knew that before purchasing.
