Lexus Is300 Auto - Judder & Slight Grind Noise When Braking

Hi,

I have been noticing my IS300 Auto 02/02 with 41k on the clock with full main agent history is making a judder noise and grind when conducting high speed braking, i would say braking from 50mph+. It isn't a pain, but I can feel and hear something.

Low speeds is fine, i.e <50mph.

Any advice chaps?

Cheers.

Dull sound. Its coming from the back i think. When I looked up my records, it has had pads last year at the lexus dealer. discs are not lipped that much, seen worse - i would say lip is 1.5mm. the disc surface is very rough - i.e. not smooth but slightly rough - is that normal?

Guys - does anyone have clues behind the noise? Is this common on all Lexus IS 200/300?

My car has been through the dealers, I've had the wheels refurbed and rebalanced, tyres are all like new, but when i brake at high speed 50/60mph+ I do notice a hollow judder sound coming from the back.

Regards,

S

I think that if you have concerns over your brakes then you should remove the wheel and inspect them. If you're not confident or skilled enough to do it then get it in and looked at.

If the calipers are seized in any way they may not be transferring even pressure to the pad and could cause uneven wear.

It's also possible that the discs may be slightly warped (especially if the brakes have been hot due to a sticking caliper)

Also be mindful that sounds can travel through the chassis of a car so it may not be the rear at fault.

It may also be something very simple such as a missing anti rattle spring or even a build up of debris that needs cleaning off.

Is the edge of the disc corroded? It may help to clean up the discs with a wire brush to remove any loose rust.

Do you leave the car standing for long periods of time or is it a daily driver?
