5 17" Lexus Wheels Now In My Possession.

Recommended Posts

Good afternoon all. I now have 5 17" Lexus Alloy Wheels. I want to thank the two people from eBay who I bought these wheels off. I'll be taking them to be refurbished by The Wheel Specialist in Cwmbran at £65 per wheel and then I'll arrange to have Hankook Ventus Prime 2 K115 tyres fitted for the summer. B rated for fuel efficiency and B rated for wet weather grip. £95.45 per tyre for the 225/45/17 at the rear and £109.46 per tyre for the 215/45/17 at the front.

Once the wheels are cleaned, I'll get some pics.

Raymond. Blackcircles.com suggest slightly larger tyres on the rears. Is it necessary?

Matt-c. I wanted tyres that were good with fuel saving (low rolling resistant) and the HanKooks appear to be the best.

They'll provide more grip as there's more rubber connected to the road. Being RWD there's not as much weight on the drIving wheels as a FWD car having the engine weight on the driving wheels. That's why they usually put wider rears on. Usually the actual rims are wider too in that case. (Staggered)

First three numbers (225) are width in mm, next two (45) is the height, in percentage of the width, and the last (17) is the internal diameter in inches.

So it's 225mm, 45% of 225mm, 17 inches - Nothing like making it simple eh? Haha!

Cheers. So, if I wanted 225 width tyres, the rims themselves would need to be larger than the front, if their not, then they'd be 215, same as the front?

Is it only certain versions of the is200 that had 225 rear wheels? E.G. certain sport editions?

There's not much difference between the fronts and the rears but usually the tyre wall gets smaller the wider the tyre gets.

On my old car I had 235/40/17 on front and 265/35/17 on the rears. They were staggered 8j & 9j

Have a look here Stuart.
