93 Ls400 Gear Indicator Light

Recommended Posts

I need to replace the bulb in the gear selector indicator in the centre console and have a couple of queries:

1. I can't see how to remove the wood trim which I assume I need to remove - does anyone know to get it out?

2. I can't work out how to remove the gear knob. Does this need to come off and if so, how is it removed?

Has anyone replaced the bulb on a '93 - is it a difficult job as I would rather do without the selector being lit than damage the console which is in perfect condition.

Thanks, Andy

Removal of the Gear indicator facia is as follows;

Take a broad flat slot screwdriver and tape the end .

ease it down between the edge of the leather padding ( adjacent to the seat) and the walnut at the end nearest the cupholders .

Lever it up gently alternating between both sides, it is clipped in .

When it comes up pull it back towards the cupholders and from the clips at the front .

Underneath there is a housing with the numbers and letters on which is held on with clips the bulb slots in the back which you should be able to get at without removing the gearknob.
