Did This Belong To Anyone On Here?

Recommended Posts

Just seen this come up for sale

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/lexus/is/lexus-is-f-5-0-v8-2008-08-plate/1978306

It's a long shot, but I'm hoping that somebody on here may have owned this particular vehicle? The reg number is not shown, but maybe recognised from the mileage and service history etc.

Cheers in advance

Neil

Dont know it but seems a good price. Mine was 51k miles up for 20 k and i managed to get it for 18.5k. Hope that helps a bit.

Has FLSH so looks a good buy. Check the wheels as all mine need a referb. Main delaer quoyted 140 per wheel.

Well after calling a few times, without answer, and leaving a message, I didn't get a call back until Sunday. Arranging a viewing later on in the week/weekend.

I'll keep you posted

Good luck Neil. :)

Looks like a good buy from the advert.

Priced about right as well IMO (bought mine mid-December with 43K miles on for £20K).

Let us know how you get on! :)

Best colour as well! ;)

Cheers.

Pete

Okay chaps, I went and had a look at this yesterday.

Nice clean car, that drove perfectly. We did however, under close scrutiny, notice that the bonnet had a minor repair and the roof had been resprayed; the finish was lovely, however, around the edges the lacquer was a little cracked. Now we either think it was done to cover a few paint chips, or maybe something like a pheasant had been clipped, hitting the bonnet and bouncing over the roof.

Interior was overall clean, with a few very minor touch ups required. The drivers bolster had taken a bit of a beating, but nothing drastic.

Right now, I'm pondering as to whether make an offer or not. Like I say, it's a lovely car with a few minor issues, but I'm not sure if I can live with those issues. I'm sure it would make someone very happy, as most wouldn't go over it with a fine tooth comb, but I know they're there now...

I got a good deal on mine knowing I would need to referb all 4 wheels. Driver side bolster has minor wear on mine and I'm having this rectified. Also having passenger side tarted up and centre armrest. Only costs 200 and will look almost new when done.

If you can get a good price then go for it but if you are not happy to get the issues sorted then walk away fella. Others will come up.

Hey Neil,

If you can negotiate enough money off to fix the issues, then go for it. The car sounds like it's pretty good, but only you can decide if it's the one for you. Bear in mind they are all 5yrs old now, so minor issues should be expected. Both Stu and I have things we are going to address on our cars, but nothing major.

The edges of my doors, and the top of the rear bumper needs paint on mine. Not sure if the rear screen was replaced at some point, but might explain the scratches?

It's all about what you can live with mate. Mine is here to stay, so I will work my way through the little niggles to get it up to my standards. When it's finished, I will know its all been done properly at least.

See what price you can get. If it's not good enough, walk away and wait for another one. Just keep in mind that may be as bad, or possibly worse?!

May struggle to find one with such low mileage?

Best of luck with whatever you decide.

Cheers.

Peter :)

Paint issues aren't too expensive to fix, I had F&R bumpers + bonnet stripped and painted with the wings blended in for £650 incl. VAT to give you a feel. Do take a closer look at the lines though to make sure panels are lining up, at the tyres to make sure there's not uneven wear (due to warping) and get the car background checked.

At this time I think I'm going to hang on.

I can live with chips and minor scuffs, like on the bumper etc, as I'm realistic about cars being used etc; I actually prefer that kind of condition over resprays, as the car seems more genuine to me. I don't like it if I don't know the reason behind the spray job, though it could be perfectly harmless...

Anyway, thanks for your input guys, tis appreciated :)

Cheers

Many thanks for the Invite Peter, I would love to join you, but things a tad hectic at the mo; I've got to put my Skyline back together, building work on the house starting shortly, meanwhile trying keeping wifey and my 9 month old appeased ;)

Whereabouts is Bluewater anyway?

Cheers

Ah yes, could be a bit of trek, particularly as I'd be driving my temporary car, which is an old 1.4 Civic :P

Maybe a summer meet, North of London, could be arranged? Hopefully I'll have myself an ISF by then.

It's my track prepped R32 GTST. I've finally got round to fitting a pair of Tomei cams, that I've had sitting around since last year. I'm just in the process of putting the few final bits back together.

At least your beater is still a Japanese car! ;) Lol.

Summer meet would work I reckon. We need a nice pub somewhere that could do a BBQ or something? That way it becomes more of a family atmosphere, and everyone has a good time.

R32 GTST track toy, nice! :)

Do you just do trackdays with it, or are you doing a series? Did some team support for both Time Attack and EDC, and Eurosaloons. Miss those days! :(

Sounds good, worst case I could come down in the Skyline.

Nope, just track days; which I might add I haven't done one in a while. Was chasing a misfire for ages, and my wee sprog took up last summer. Hopefully should get a couple in this year, weather permitting.

That must've been fun? Particularly the Time Attack... went to see it a couple of times. Some incredible bits of kit...
