Anyone used K-Seal on their IS250? I dont have any major signs of HG problem. Oil is clean, exhaust is clean and idling is smooth. But while attempting to bleed air out of my coolant system via the burping method of leaving the pressure cap open from the radiator, i gotsome pressure that pushed the coolant out. From what I have read, when the car is cold and with the radiator cap off, there shouldnt be any pressure in the system to push the coolant up the radiator. So my worry is that some sort of leak in the HG might be present.

My question is: my is250 has 145k miles on it, so leak or no leak, will using K-Seal as a preventative measure at certain intervals be a good idea? My worry would be that what if it clogs up something it shouldnt? Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks

I would have thought you would have either oil spots in your coolant or a creamy sludge on the oil if you had a HG problem. The coolant should be red (pinkish)

I had the gurgling on mine recently - I found out that the expansion tank was empty - I topped it up over two days and while doing so I was squeezing the inlet / outlet coolant hoses until I could see the level changing in the tank. This got rid of the air for me. There was no pressure present when I was doing this, even with the engine on.

... also - I cant see what good this will do as everyone has recommended I top the system up with the proper coolant for this car, recommended by Lexus so personally, I would not like to add this to the system.

is200 Newbie, i had the water travelling noise about a year ago which LED me to look into bleeding air from the system. i checked my expansion bottle and levels were correct. so tried following some peoples tip to remove the pressure cap from the radiator (not the expansion bottle) and start the car and let the air bubbles burp out. this is when i realise the pressure as the coolant started coming out.

So i put the pressure cap back on and all was good for a few months until one summers day the car started overheating. I stopped immediately and steam was coming from bonnet and coolant was leaking because it was boiling in the overflow tank and overflowing out. Took it to a local toyota dealer who diagnosed and pressure tested and found that the pressure cap that has a valve inside, the valve had broken that controls the pressure and fell into the pipe. They drained some coolant and removed part of the coolant system to take out the broken valve. Then put it back together and put new coolant and installed a brand new pressure cap. And since then it's been perfect.

But i'm still concerned about the fact that when i attempted that bleed almost a year ago, the coolant came gushing when i started the car with the cap off (not the cap on the expansion bottle) expansion bottle isnt pressurized.

Considering if i should buy the block-chek kit to analyze the coolant
