Boot Wont Open - Is200 - 2003

Hey

I recently purchased a 2003 IS200 and the boot was working fine up until today it won't open no matter what, I use the key (holding the button for 3 sec) and I hear the boot latch making a noise. I've tied to pull it up while the noise is there and it doesn't work. I've also searched this a good bit and found that people talk about a valet mode which I've looked in the glove box and don't see a button for. I also tried the driver side boot lever and it does nothing. No noise.

I read that some people said to disconnect the Battery for a few minutes. I didn't want to attempt this because I don't know an awful lot about cars in general and was wondering would this disable electrics that will then need to be re-programmed?

If anyone has any tips or anything at all it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi have you tried the key in the boot lid and open boot manually you can isolate the boot operation on the lock by turning the barrel so the slot is horizontal
