Engine Cover Clips

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm new to this website. I don't know how to search the forum so therefore I'm posting a new topic - sorry! I'm looking an eBay link or some info on which clips I need to hold my plastic engine covers in place.

I have a 2008 IS220D SE-L I changed the air filter today and managed to break the clips that holds the covers. The reason I believe I have broken them is that they don't 'click' into place when I put them in again. Thank you in advance.

There was a discussion on this on the IS 250 etc forum in March this year, I don't know how to link you to it but if you go to that forum and search or find a post titled "what a rip off for clips" you will find links to where these can be obtained.

Search box is at the top right hand corner of the page . If you do a google search on lexus engine cover clips the lexus owners club forums is about eighth in the list. You've obviously got the wrong eBay dealer as they seem to be around £3.25 for 10.

If I remember rightly to put them in you lift the centre pin up put the clip in place and push the centre clip in until its flush. To remove use a small driver to push the centre pin in and the clip should lift out.

Thanks, I pushed the centre pin in with my finger and it popped out. Although I did break a few, when I tried to put one I didn't break back in it wouldn't click into place.

I dunno if I did. Am I supposed to hold the middle pin up until I've put the outside pins thru then press the middle pin down?

Thanks for all this helps seems stupid over just a plastic clip, lol

Just rang Lexus to make sure and they told me basically the same. Hold pin up as far as it goes and click it 1 click until it's flush. Second click down releases it
