Hi Guys & Gals,

I am thinking of buying an SC430, probably between 2003-2006 fits my price range, it will be a daily driver but only around 6k miles per year. Any advice on what to beware of, I realise that full service history is very important and also to some extent low mileage.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Tony

Hello Tony and welcome to the LOC.

As you mention a FLSH is important and make sure the cam belt change has been done (usually a sticker on the engine confirms this) or if one is due haggle the price because it's not a cheap job.

Bodywork on top generally holds out very well but if possible get underneath and check for excessive rust ( another member recently purchased the same model and it was rusting away below deck)

Engines and transmissions are generally considered bulletproof provided they have been serviced correctly.

Listen for any knocks on both the rear and front suspension, make sure the brakes pull the car up in a straight line as calipers can seize.

Check for any accident damage like misaligned panels and paint colour mismatches.

Push/pull EVERY switch and make sure it all works.

Finally take your time looking, drive a few before committing to get a feel of what's right and wrong.

Good luck in the search for your SC and if you have some shortlisted feel free to post up the links and we'll comment good or bad.
