Idle Speed On Cold Start

Hi,

my 2001 LS430 has a minor issue whereby when starting from cold it idles at about 1400rpm. The upshot is that there's a bit of a thud when you put it in gear. Is there any way to adjust the idle speed? Once the engine has warmed up the idle speed is absolutely fine.

No the idle speed is electronically controlled so cannot be adjusted, mine is arround the same with a cold idle and yes thumps a little when put into drive. Drops to 650 RPM when fully warmed up.

Another thing you may not have noticed with the 5 speed transmission being so smooth is that until the transmission fluid has warmed up they don't go into top gear.

Iiam: I always press the brake pedal down before I put it into Drive and this stops the thud,give it a try.
