Battery Isolator Switch

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Here goes with my first post,so please be gentle!

I have had the pleasure of owning a 1999 LS.400 since December 2014 with only one minor problem , it doesn't like the cold Scottish winter.

If left idle for 4 or 5 days in sub zero temperatures the Battery dies.

I understand from reading the many posts on this forum that this is a common occurrence, and to be honest is really no big deal as I have a booster Battery on hand to get me mobile in minutes. However I was just wondering, would a Battery isolator switch solve this minor inconvenience? Has anyone tried this as they appear very inexpensive and easy to fit ?

Love the car. love the forum. Look forward to your replies.

. welcome to the LOClub John ................ we are all gentle ....... maybe best to get the Battery cells checked out, a simple 5 min job with the right kit and person.

Good luck with it all

Thanks for the advice, will get the Battery checked in the next few weeks, before considering any other action.

At this time of year may only cover between 10 to 30 miles in the week and perhaps as many as 80 to 100 when the weather improves, and just doodling around home!

Don't 'Plip' it closed, just use key.

Unless you think someone might nick it?

Otherwise, cheer yourself up with the first few minutes of this clip, which features a pretty unique Isolator! (AND driver's seat!!)

Every time I watch this, I want one!

Thanks for that Chris, certainly brought a smile to my face , can't wait for summer to get some sun on the back again !!

Btw never lock the car either by "blipper " or key. Bad habit I know, and don't let on to the insurance!
