Rear Seat Dvd - Sound Options

Recommended Posts

Looking at a 2009 RX400 with the official rear seat DVDs. It comes with some headphones but does anyone know if the units on each side have a physical headphone jack too? Reason for asking is that the kids are just too small to cope with headphones so want to play the sound through external speakers...

Ideal option would be to play the sound through the car speakers but have been told this isn't possible.

Can anyone take a look at theirs please and let me know. Perhaps you know of an online manual for the system?

Ta,

Noman

Hi,

I have same DVD players in the back of mine with a 2.5 year old. They do have their own headphone jacks and what I have done, is bought car seats with built in speakers:

So I just plug the provided lead into the seat and the other end into the monitor. Job done :)

I am not aware of any way you could get the sound through the car speakers. You could try something like this or similar:

On this one, you may need to extend the lead itself depending on where you plug in the power bit. But in theory, you could plug the jack into the monitor and then use one of these devices to stream the sound through an FM frequency.

WOW! I love to be a child in one of those. How much are they? Mike.

Can't you get the DVD to play through the centre console if you have a disk option in the front console? Press this until DVD shows and then the film plays upfront and sound comes through speakers, when D is selected the DVD just plays to the rear screens. I know this is on some SE-L models from I believe 2007 onwards.

Gonna have to give this a try.

As far as I was aware, my two units in the back worked independently to the one in the centre console.
