Simple question, is there any sound system upgrade possibilities for the is250?,,,,I know I can replace it with the Mark Levinson system but was not thinking of going down that route.

Replacing it with the ML system is highly unlikely (although I know you are not considering it) as it will need a new wiring loom.

Loads of people in the USA have upgraded or replaced their system. Have a search on google. It depends on how far you would like to go. If you just want to fit an OEM 'Style' system, then I know that Fly Audio produce a head unit which looks similar to the multimedia systems fitted as standard, which will offer you touch screen sat nav, Bluetooth hands free and a reversing camera option.

If you are happy with the current head unit but would like to upgrade the speakers and amplifier then I have seen that people splice in the JL Audio Clean sweep unit which will essentially remove the amplified signal from the standard amp and allow you to connect 3rd party amplifiers and speakers.
