Guys,

I've just been talking to Dr Bones about getting my geometry sorted. Anyone who has seen my car - is this enough room at the top of the tyre?

Bazza - I know you had a similar problem

Ooops, should have wiped that smear off first!

Seems for now we will not meet :crybaby: "BUT" i can still write the set-up for you if this helps...

Tony - I would be grateful for any information on the set-up

"Sorry!" guys, i know this situation is "pants" but there we go....future plans will involve the "low" club :D "Still" i can help with the set-up. Mr Morse we have spoken via Email and PM, but for your set-up lets display it openly for all to see? when i get mail w/ wide there is a uniform methode i can use geometricaly.

Car/ make/ model/year/cc...must be exact.

any mods/ suspension/ height/ type, including arb upgrades.

wheel size/ front and rear.

problem/ tyre wear/ handling

needs/ perfomance/ oversteer/ under / heavy steering/ light.

driving style/ motorway%/ town %

load / unladen% fully%

from this the geometry can be written, and be "personal"

from this the geometry can be written, and be "personal"

Here we go:

1) IS300, 12/2003, 3.0L

2) Apexi coilovers, height centre wheel - lip: front 325mm, rear 315mm

3) P-Zero Rosso 225/45/18 front and rear

4) Very slight pull to left, 6mm tread front, rears almost new, handling OK

5) Improved handling, steering neither heavy or light, want to prevent rapid wear due to -ve camber

6) 60% motorway/dual, 40% town/urban

7) Normally just me 88Kg

Hope this is OK

Didn't want to go that route - would have rubbed at full lock

I understand. Your geom is going to be a real problem.. so many factors will need to be addressed on the fly some angles will be "compromised", the "profile" you have shown is fine to allow the cambers and toe to be calculated, but the recovery will violate other angles.

i'm ok with Camber front/ rear, toe front/ rear ( settings to follow )

what worries me is the castor, moved via the Camber adjustment, its effect on the toe recovery and its effect on the lock angles, and then effect on the TOOT ( toe out on turns ) cannot be forcast. I will display geometricaly what i would like but i think the place of repair and myself will need to speak "live" during the geometry, where are you taking it?

I haven't decided where I'll be taking it yet Tony. There is a place not too far from me that specialises in performance tuning for Scooby's and Evo's that I need to check out. This is their website:

TSL Motorsport

OK. I visited TSL Motorsport earlier (just down the road from Nottm in Keyworth) where they checked out my ride height, coilover settings, cambers etc and they were satified that they could do the geo based upon Dr Bones recommendations.

BTW Dr B - I have a pair of front Cusco camber correctors to have fitted at the same time, do you also need to take these into account

Said the job would take about 2 hrs including fitting the Cusco's

Nice friendly bunch at TSL, they'd never seen a modded/slammed IS before and loved it! :D

They had a wicked looking Evo VIII there that puts out around 400bhp :nuke:

Reads like the "place to go", the geom recovery and your mods in regard to camber and toe are simple

camber rear: 35' neg

toe: 12'neg ( total toe )

camber front: 10 to 15' neg.

toe: 12' pos ( total )

these positions "must" be safe the reasons why will go on for pages TSL will understand.

Now here are my worries....As you said "they" have never seen an IS "slammed" before so they "may" need some help, the "live" is just me on the phone.

My point is i would assume the ( front camber ) is negative to the max?, when this is corrected the wheel will pivote forward and increase the castor, so the corrected camber will now hold the castor "way" over spec, now the "toe out on turns" will be amplified, this evlivated lock with an 18" wheel will rub, so a balance of figures will be needed, the "bigger" wider" lower" price will always need to be payed.

"Any" issues please ask then to phone me # 01923 234666.. we will get there "dont" worry :D

Dr B.

Are these these the only numbers I need to take to TSL?

Any feedback on the Cusco neg camber adjusters? TSL can set them up same as the current setup, just wanted your Guru opinion

Yes: the Camber and toe "are" a matter of fact, TSL should understand that. The Cusco adjusters i "hope" are mid wheel? ( they should be ).... between TSL and myself things will be ok, as i said my only worry is the "Castor"....you dont need to be involved in that concern, leave that to TSL and me :D

Just to butt in on what Tony has said...

Nose lower will help the handling also, mine measures 290mm all round normally, but i've got the back on 300mm at the mo as i'm toying with stiffer springs to overcome the sag i get when boost comes in..

i did mention the ride height see (earlier) posts, but at the end of the day the position is up to MR M, we can work around that disparity :whistling:

Dr B

I spoke to TSL this morning and passed on your settings - they are asking for the units of measurement you are quoting for camber and toe?

Is it degrees and mm respectively?

No toe and camber in degrees and minutes 60'/1degree, they should know that?

Example :1/2 degree using 60'/1degree= 30'

1/2 degree using 100'/1degree= 50' :D
