The New K&n Typhoon

Well as you may know from this thread there have been a few failures of the original K&N Typhoon induction kits, namely the bracket which secures it to the inner wing.

So eventualy they have shipped me a replacement. Fitted it this afternoon, not given it a full trip out just a bit of static testing.

Main points I noticed (apart from the new heat shield included in the kit).

1. filter element is shorter;

2. induction pipe is a different profile;

3. new bracket (seperate piece);

4. all the pipe clips are in imperial (small allen key included in the kit);

5. no blanking pipe cap included for the emmissions pipe inlet;

6. it doesn't seem as loud inside teh car anymore (maybe the shorter filter is the cause?);

7. the instructions are carp.

Any way... here are the pics:

(Larger pictures can be found here )

The temp bracket I knocked up:

Side by side, pipes are now shorter and bent differently.

I must admit I prefered the blue but that didnt appear to be an option :(

The big sweep out away from the engine may help keep it cooler as well... I'll give it a test when I escape the rat smell later tonight.

The blue one was gorgeous (it's metallic blue), but I don't think that mounting point'll be snapping off in a hurry! Thought Jiberjaber would've had problems getting the replacement (I bought it off Fasterfilters, he bought it off me!), glad it's sorted.

Yes it was a bit hit and miss for a while. thanks for the assistance Martin :)

I too think the blue is better. I noticed after a good 20 min thrash (and I mean a thrash!) that the induction pip was hardly warm, the filter was but the pip wasn't!.

Any how, car seams faster but also quieter (which I miss somewhat)
