  2. Hi guys, I've purchased the car two weeks ago. Was planning on major service starting with timing belt and auxiliary belts(as it only came with part history) , but than something unexpected happened I lost the heating yesterday. I only used it to go to the local sainsb(half a mile) , today I have checked it and there was no coolant in there, started topping up from the coolant filler point on the left(if you are in front of the car), but it only took about a litter of coolant, then I popped the radiator cap and filled up another litter. So then I've started the engine and when it got worn, the coolant started to leak for the overflow I guess N/S bottom left. Left it sit out and chill then I've topped up from the filling point as there wasn't any on the scale, took it for a ride to the petrol station(as it happens) half way the temperature was closing to red part of the dail, so I pulled out and turned it off for 30 40 min. Than I barely made it back b4 the guege whent in to the red. The radiator seemed to be cool all the time, there is no circulation. I doubt the water pump was changed, the car has 89k on the clock. Any suggestions?

  3. That's how I have mine at the moment. Plays music audio fine that way but for music videos you only get the audio. The manual seems to imply that you can get the video via the AUX input but I am unsure how to cable it up.

  4. I think you need a 3.5mm 3 or 4 pole male to male cable. This would plug in the headphone socket on the Ipod. Another alternative would be the Apple connector to 3xRCA (or phono plug) cable (left, right stereo, plus composite video), then add a 3 x RCA to 3.5mm adaptor. I don't think it works over USB. There are loads of cables on Ebay or Amazon from a few pounds each. Or Maplin may have some too.

  5. Insurance companies base quotes on how much parts cost and as we all know parts aren't cheap for our beloved choice mind you the fact that they would write off most of our cars even for a small dent leaves them with no argument as to why premiums are so high for alot of people. Insurance companies are making fortunes because they know that the chance of them paying out what they should is almost nil. I have always said that if something like insurance is a requirement by law then the government should supply it the same way MOTs and Road Tax are. Mike

  6. You will generally save more money on major services by taking it too a local, prestige or Toyota specialist. Have a look on the good garage scheme website, where you can put in your postcode and check out the customer's feedback of garages near you. All good garage scheme members use forte treatments/ additives, they'll put one in with the oil and one with the fuel with amazing results, by bringing compressions back into line and cleaning the air/fuel ratio sensors, the benefits are a smoother more fuel efficient engine. Have a look at the website, forte lubricants (engine flush and gas treatments).

  9. Hi and welcome to LOC :) Lovely car you have. :zee: That's my old IS, and now Davesports's that Pete has pictured with Ian (Ihgs300) fitting the armrest :) The kick you feel at about 4000rpm isn't the vvti kicking in (sorry Pete). It doesn't work like honda vtec. The 'kick' you feel is the ACIS (acoustic control induction system) working. Basically opens a valve in the intake at about 4000rpm. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acoustic_Control_Induction_System Anyway enjoy the car and the forum :)
