  1. Are they off the is250 ? No mate - the is200 I can only think theres a mistake with the figures given to me?
  2. Hmmm, interesting!! They are oem IS alloys, but those were the measurements given to me. I did wonder about the tyre width. Bit confusing this. Will double check with the seller.
  3. Looking at getting some wheels. Been told they are suited for 2001-2004 IS200.......... i wasn't aware there was any difference between any of the mk1 IS200's in terms of wheel sizing?? anyhow, these are the details given to me: Tyre size: 225/50/R17 and 245/45/R17. Rim size: 7.5 x 17". Offset: 35 will they fit my 2000 plate IS without any problems?? cheers in advance rob
  4. "Carlsberg don't do right-offs, but if they did, they'd probably look like this........."
  5. oh ok mate, still unsure as to whether the IS fuel pump and lines would be upto the job?? they may be, but i guess there's no way of telling. a case of suck it and see perhaps??
  6. yea ur project interests me mate as if it proves to be a relatively hassle free, reliable conversion, hitting 300+ bhp, then it may be a route i'd consider. But i've spoke with a fair few tuners and have had some interesting ideas thrown my way and one in particular has interested me - hence this thread. as for another project being on the cards - well, i'll know more on that front in a month or so - not had any quotes etc yet and that'll be the determining factor really. @stav, did you not have a supra?? fuel pump for when ur car went into get mapped??
  7. take for a dfrive and let it sit for a few days, should all settle down by then... mind you, should look prety darn low from the off i would have thought??
  8. no problem matey, any time. when the weathers a bit better might be best, lol!! glad all is sorted mate :D
  9. Hey up Nik, Saw ur car parked up outside Haselgrave this morning, so take it she's all sorted and running smoothly again?! Looks a nice motor mate, we'll have to meet up one day and have a natter! any plans for it or are you keeping it fairly standard mate??
  10. ahh, the cyclo i believe... great polisher, but pretty heavy bit of kit though isn't it??? i guess this smartool variant would be a lot lighter and more manageable IMO. keep us posted on it chris :)
  11. nice one mate. take it the IS fuel pump/lines won't be up to the job though???
  12. price on what matey?? the course?? no idea mate, its chris who's looking into that... as for full paint correction by a pro detailer - ur looking at £200 upwards mate....
  13. yea realised that after i posted stav, lol. i'll probably end up going the forged rods/pistons route - JE do some for the IS IIRC. ok, power enterprise, i take it we're probably talking about the 550 cc injectors??
  14. basically mate its a full restoration of the paint so that all swirl, sanding, marring, oxidation marks are removed and a uniform paint thickness is established across the car. Its a service generally offered by pro valeters, but can be done urself with the right knowledge, time, equipment and effort. the results are 2nd to none, but its not a short process. a bit more info here mate: http://www.finerdetails.co.uk/7.html
  15. as stav said, is this what ur running mate?? i'm not planning to go a turbo route to be honest fella, and was thinking i could get away with keeping the 1G-FE in tact, i.e not fitting the GTE bottom end. will see what the general consensus is come march time. what sort of uprated injectors should do the bizzo?? any pointers?? i take it the only reason for the custom exhaust manifold is to fit everything under the hood??
  16. yea, 2 heads are supposed to help cut down strain in the arms through vibration etc as chris said. looks a good piece of kit - especially at that price. is it rotary polisher or random orbital?? i always thought the random orbital were better for the paint - but not entirely sure. mind you, when used correctly i guess both should work a treat!! what products u thinking of using chris?? there's a massive range out there, but some well priced quality products can be had from poorboys, mezerna etc. try cleanyourcar.com i think it is. They're brilliant and know their stuff really well. Can get all sort from them mate!! i've used them several times and i think its tim is more than happy to speak on the phone and offer advice - top service. i would reccomend the klasse products also (also branded as carlack 68), but they're more for hand application. I have enough of the stuff to do a fleet of cars, so your more than welcome to borrow the lot and have a go - that way u can get a feel for them and see what the results are like without buying them. are you thinking of doing a full paint correction type job? or just get rid of bad swirls and generally improve the clarity/shine of the paint??
  17. yeah, basically when you lift of the throttle the turbo keeps the pressure up, but it can't enter the engine because the throttle is shut. so instead, the pressure is vented to the atmosphere (VTA) after the preset spring pressure is reached in the dump valve itself. as stav said, without it, it can basically act as a brake on the turbo itself. i think you can also get re-circulating systems?? and there are also blow-off valves which are slightly different i think, lol.
  18. nothing sorted definitively yet, all depends on the costings and quote i get at the end of feb/early march. but my plan is a charger route as i prefer the more linear power deliver and they sound immense!! lol.
  19. cheers for the input so far guys. the power delivery isn't the issue - i have that planned out, i hope, and its molded around the fact that i keep the existing engine as don't want the troubles of engine swaps etc. @aido, yea i know what u mean about the supra TT mate, i do love em, but the only thing putting me off is the relative age of the cars and their inherent nature for being tinkered with (not that it makes them a knacker or anything like that, but maybe not knowing what ur getting kinda thing). i've spoke with a few people on here and off, and i'm torn at the minute between getting rid of the IS and getting something with more power as stock, or going the whole hog on the IS. Thing is, i love the IS's character, comfort, etc etc and its probably gonna be hard for me to let go of it. It looks wicked in white, its not very common, and certainly is something that i wanna savour for a little longer i think. It still puyts a big smile on my face when i boot it!lol!! so any more thought on what other upgrades would be a must. so far its looking like rods, pistons, injectors, ECU and clutch. The standard IS diff, transmission and gearbox should hopefully be up to the task though?
  20. With it only being 2L engine, for me i would only be going for 280bhp tops, as you would have a nice everyday car with lots of get-up and go, but as they say, each to there own :D yes mate, know what ur saying there. those are the figures i've got in mind but its not a definitive goalpost or anything. i was originally thinking around 300 with similar torque. just wanting to get the most bang per buck so to speak, but still keep it nice for everyday drive.
  21. yep, i know dave's running 360+ and its definitely possible. i know most might say a 2J conversion etc may be the 'better option' but thats not the way i'm wanting to go for several reasons to be honest.
  22. Hi guys, wondered if you guys could give me a brief run down of what would be needed to enable full safe use of a 1G-FE engine running about 350bhp and 300ish ft/lbs of torque?? the power delivery isn't the issue, its all the bits to go with it - clutch, transmission, fuelling, gearbox, etc. i know internals would be a must, but what else would deffo have to be uprated?? cheers in advance. rob
  23. oh ok mate. not bad stuff that. u can apply a sealant before waxing. will make it a little more durable etc, but not a necessity. glad it turned out alright for you mate. i just love the feel of the smooth paint after claying - its wicked!! lol!!
  24. looks great matey. with regards the clay, u can keep kneeding the clay until you get a clean surface, normally a couple uses out of one to be honest mate. 1st rule is though, if you drop it, bin it!! otherwise it can really damage the paint. out of interest chris, what sealant did you use after claying??
