Howard Check the front sunroof drains are not blocked before you take out the scuttle and wiper arms, this is the usual cause of water ingress if the water overflows the sunroof tray and runs down the windscreen columns and then down the inside of the firewall. The drains themselves actually run down the columns and then exit through the crumple zone into the area rear of the front wheel arch,push some weed eater cord through them .

Hi Phil Is'nt that in the procedure for checking the A/C on the touch screen were it runs through the different vent and boost settings and reads them off as it progresses ,I have to confess I have only done it once on the old LCD display Mark 1 but I am sure there is a similar procedure for the touchscreen.

The original epicentre is now reporting no new cases and the rest of China likewise apart from imported ones but the signals coming from China support the case that this virus as a time span that can be tracked and hopefully that is the key to defeating it until a vaccine is developed. Steven Do some research on how this virus operates and how it is made up,the idea is the fabric soaks up enough dettol to act as a barrier to your hands and dettol is not harmful to the skin as it is prescribed as a disinfectant on wounds. The risk is you may break the plugs and then the relocation is not as precise ,if you take it off refix with a 3m silicone ideally marine grade.

The moulding on the wheel arch simply pulls off there may be some silicone on the inside faces but the fastenings are push fit plugs, if there is any corrosion behind the moulding you may end up with bigger holes were the plugs fit.

Well the mystery deepens .There is as Steve says proof it is not a JDM and Australia was a country that Lexus sent the LS400 back in 1990 the point I made regarding fog lamps on the valance may not have been the correct requirement for fog lamps in Australia so it could be why they are not on the valance but I am convinced it is a mark 1.

Hi fellow Lexuns There is a way to fight back against this virus which will help everyone in society. When in public places wear fabric gloves that are sprayed in Dettol or other strong disinfectant this should help to kill the virus before it gets on you and stop the further spread by killing the hotspots (touch zones). It will help by eradicating the biggest spread mechanism we know this germ has, "Touch contact".

You are mistaken Malc The mark 1 had two seperate headlights in the cluster the mark3 had one.

This is a mark1 and probably started life as a celsior import from Japan with subsequent badge changes the absence of fog lights rules out european origin. It is in superb condition body wise not sure about the bling.

I used one of those antennas on my Mark 1 and it did have a grommet that fitted but you may be able to buy just a selection of grommets on ebay.

Hi Simon This was a common fault on the early Mark 1 and both of my inner wheel arches rotted from the inside out when the car was less than five years old .The rust showed itself on the rear door enclosures at the top facing edge and was very difficult to access ,I eventually flooded the compartment from the oblong bung at the bottom of the wheel arch on the chassis. This did the job in stopping further rot ,I think the problem occurred because the metal on the wheel arch was so thin it was penetrated by stones and the rot set in beneath the underseal as water got though the holes and collected in the inner cavities. I have had no issues with my mark 4 I think that they improved the areas that were suspect.

Another solution is to adjust the door lock by raising it, this will tighten up the hinges when closed reducing any movement .On my mark 1 the door had dropped a couple of mil with wear after 20 years and 180k and that caused creaking although my mark 4 is now 22 years old there is no creaking and the mileage is a quarter of the mark 1.

The guide slots on the glass get dried out and they too can cause creaking,again silicone spray with the tube attachment down the slots.

The cause may be creaky seals and a quick solution is silicone spray onto a rag and wipe down the seals and abutting metal .

The question you ask is very subjective as Lexus do not have a colour code for their wheels and it as always been a bind matching the old paint finish A specialist wheel refurbishment outfit will have a stock of silver paint that they reckon matches a particular brand and work with that. As yours have been done already the only chance you have is using your spare as a match because the spare is not usually refurbed if it as you will have to ask the paint shop to use their best knowledge.
