Folding Wing Mirrors
Whoever replied to mick77's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Hmm, the mirrors don't "auto fold" on my 2009 220d SE-I. Perhaps this feature is on the SE-L only? -

2009 Model 220d
Whoever replied to egnot's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Having not driven a model with auto-lock this all sounds very confusing. Question: You are sat in the car with your engine running, how does your front seat passenger get out of the car and is it the same procedure for the rear seat passengers. They have to push the unlock button before they can open the door. It is easier for the driver to do this for passengers unfamiliar with the car. If you want to get your jacket from the back, you have to push the unlock button on the driver's door first, so yes it's the same for rear seat passengers. -

The auto locking is a customisable feature, which can be disabled by the dealer. I can't wait! -

I have had my 220d SE-I for three weeks now. I clocked 41.8 mpg on the journey to pick up the new car and 41.6 mpg in the new one coming home. It took 20000 miles in the SE before I could use 6th gear at 60mph. I am doing that already with the SE-I. The gear change is much smoother in the new car, the auto locking is driving me nuts, and I miss my ML system. The chrome around the CD player looks cheap but the front and back sensors are a welcome addition. No shaking mirror, no rattles. (didn't have them in the old car.) Still less than 400 miles on the clock, but I have just done a round trip of 120 miles with varying road conditions and got 46.9mpg. The old car was around 41 or 42 on the same trip, once reaching the dizzy heights of around 44. I'm impressed. -
Delivery Date

I ordered my IS220d SE-I in February and had a call this week saying that my car is now in transit, arriving at the dealership on 10 July. The computer showed "In Build" last month. Make of that what you will. -
Best Colour

There are two new colours. My Atacama Gold 220D SE-I is on order. it's called Amber Pearl in the US: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/es350-foru...l-es-350-a.html I personally thought that Sable was too dark for my tastes. -
Trade In Shock

"............the dealer eventually phoned me up and said, and I quote "What do I have to do to get you to order this car on the phone now?"..... I was then interested !!!" Had the same happen to me recently. It's all about "price to change". I was offered basic trade in price but negotiated a discount on the new car, but the invoice shows something different again (a smaller discount and an inflated trade in price). Price to change: 2006 Lexus 220d SE with MM to Lexus 220d SE-I FM = £12500. Give me 50% value on my trade in car against full price new car, price to change = £12560. I can live with that. -
Steering Clunk?
Whoever replied to skyetripper's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
1. The steering failed on my 2006 IS220D. 2. Steering rack replaced. 3. Clunking noise at full lock forwards or backwards after new rack fitted. 4. Steering and caliper recall work carried out together with replacement of suspension bushes (too much play apparently) and two new front tyres. 5. All is now well. -
Steering Recall
Whoever replied to dgman's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
My steering failed completely in early December whilst undertaking a three point turn. A new steering rack was fitted but I was unhappy with the feel of the steering, and the car was left at the centre to be checked over but no faults could be found. I subsequently emailed them the thread about clunking wheels at slow speed which described the condition, and I received an e mail back asking for my car to go in for three days in mid February. I don't know if that is a recall or just an ongoing issue with my car. I don't know if this is connected, but the condition described below did not occur until the new steering rack was fitted. It did turn a lot colder around that time however. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=56172 -
Is 2009
Whoever replied to Roger Bill's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
I visited a centre three weeks ago and was told that the revised IS comes out some time next year! Returned a week later after checking this and other websites, told the same thing by someone else. This indicates that either the staff are in the wrong job or have lost interest and/or they only want to sell old stock at this time. I really want to see the new colours on the car. They look like mid gold and very dark brown. Does anyone have pictures please? -
"James tells me at Woodford that none of the brand new ones have come back with rattles" WOOHOO! :D :D :D Thanks Alpappy, you have made my night! And thanks to all you pioneers for pointing out the problems, to make life sweeter for the "awaiting delivery crowd".

Is Overpriced? Is This The Proof?

Yellow Celica T Sport to Brechin Slate IS220d. "Gay" to "Old" overnight in June, all in someone else's opinion of course :winky: -
Yesterday evening went out to the drive to look at my new machine. Squatted down to look at the front fogs and noticed that condensation had formed in them......both of them!! As you can imagine plenty of swearing and cursing. I don't think this will be a problem. My last two Toyotas suffered from condensation in the lights but the problem went away after a couple of months. If it happens on my 220d when it arrives I will not be too concerned.

Lexus Dealers - The Crown Slips?
Whoever replied to pml9952's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
Hi all. I will be a Lexus owner within a few weeks, and I can't wait! I visited two Lexus Centres this week and the experiences were interesting. Dealer A did not contact me when the 220d was being booked for test drives. A promised call back did not happen. To be fair, I am not a current Lexus owner, and perhaps my buying intentions were being tested. However I considered it to be just a car dealership. We were a long way from striking a deal. Dealer B was eager to do business. I walked in off the street and spoke to the manager and then the owner, two very professional and courteous people, and it was the most painless and pleasurable negotiation for a car purchase I have ever made. We were made to feel a bit special. I particularly liked the way we were escorted back to our car. It goes without saying that Dealer B got my business, especially as the deal was £1500 cheaper for me! Please don't ask me to identify the centres. It was just my personal experience and things might be different for others. So I await my 220d SE+MM with much excitement. To heighten my anticipation I have been taking the SATNAV tutorial here: http://www.lexus.com/models/ls/interior.html Is it the same system on the IS? I am sure it can't be much different. Happy to join the club!
