I agree with you there!! The leather on the seats in my Mk1 GS is like cardboard and the stitching is continually splitting. I just don't seem to be able to get the leather to soften however often I treat them. By the way I too have a big Rover (1990 manual 827 Vitesse) and the leather in that is nice and soft and supple. I suspect Japanese leather is inferior to UK leather. i used to have 820Si and agree very comfy but I find seats in my Mk1 300 Sport very good. tour France at least once yearly roughly 2000 miles and drive 800 per day to get there with no problems regarding comfort or fatigue If it is bad for you in particular you could strip seats out and fit Prelude seats I agree with you there!! Very true but not much goes wrong if its good to start with. Full history is usefull as it gives VSR. Trouble is that any repairs are based on a £35000-£38000 car , but they are no longer fetching that much. you can check repairs etc against what is recorded on the VSR that Lexus give on every service. May cost bit more with Lexus history but can save a lot in the long term Best of luck..hope you find a nice one Regards Dave

Had mine tested and regassed by local aircon specialist 2 years ago. When I collected the car they had it on test with a/c on and it was icy cold . worked fantastic ever since. Cost £ 74. inc VAT. Much easier and they know what they are looking for regarding leaks or possible compressor damage. Quite possibly cheaper in the long term.

feel better now after spending out £505 for B service ,cambelt and plugs. Used to get round 25/26 on same journey before. Touring Brittany at round 70mph usually get 32 mpg. Was just interested what others got to try to judge if my engine is doing ok.local going to work etc running from cold getting from 15 to 18 mpg. On last run on Saturday I was doing average of 90. tunnel to Coventry in 2hrs 15 mins. :P you must send me a pic of you so i can see if you are better looking

Just driven from Coventry to Belgium return. Cruised down at 70/75 ,return journeya few holdups so maybe 20/30 over limit. Aircon on all time but 440 miles = 68 ltrs fuel. 29.33 MPG. Best ive got at those speeds and with a fully loaded boot. Might be cos just had service and new plugs but I think that is good consumption for a 300 sport. How do we all compare ???

I only paid £301 last october for a series 1 300 sport with Churchill That price was fully comp + legal cover for me and wife.

my series 1 sport has same handbook. your spare is wrong tho.u cant put 1 16" on with 3 18", lethal quite aside from being illegal.Run car into kwikfit Nuneaton and see Dave(manager) 4 full brake check FOC.Dont usually need appt. but best fone 1st. nb. The pressure 4 tyres given on drivers door closure is 4 a standard 300 with 16" wheels. 36 all round seems good.

Lexus vs BMW as in all models were actually better. 82.59 BMW 84.95 mileage higher on Lexus avge 57802 vs 50614,age 4.89 vs 4.58 off road time 1.96 vs2.63. also not a single report of engine problem on Lexus. if you take these in context, the Lexus brand far outperforms the BMW. All these figures are on the site which you provided the link to.

I agree that it shouldnt have been on display, but its been fitted over 4 y ears without a problem. Still every right to complain if some oik smashes into car and steals it. Didnt happen when i was younger, but will not make same mistake again.

Hi Gavin At that price, it sounds like an amazing deal especially if the cambelt has just been done (coz that costs a bundle). However, I would also check the discs. I bought my X reg'd (2001) GS300 Sport for £11k. It had 66k on the clock and the front discs were totally knackered which the dealer replaced. When I had it first serviced I found that the rears were also around 95% worn - so another bundle of dosh went out of my bank account !!! Have a good look at the underside and check the exhaust - it's not all stainless steel. The heat shields are prone to rattling. Good luck. Cheers... FastLemon If you bought your Mk2 from Lexus dealer it should have RAC report. I would have been pressing for warranty replacement.

Had my mk1 300 sport since 05/2002. Lexus Coventry "A" service always round £180.Not much more to pay for their facilities and workshop equipment.Due "B" service now, Coventry too expensive, but Leicester "B" service, plugs, and cambelt, about £590 LESS 15% loc discount....cant be bad.
