  1. Haf, at a price (!) you can have the Advanced Audi Reversing aids, with guess what? A camera! At £700 odd on top of the £650 for th Bluetooth and £2000 for the Satnav, plus £500 odd for the B&O sound systm, you get almost to the Lexus MM system standard! That'll be almost £4000...and the Lexus one is less than £3000...and a similar story exists for the seating pack in the Audi...you can have Vents etc, but it costs a lot of money... It's blooming expensive to get these things the germaniac way. Where the Audi is likely to win though is in Interior Quality, especially the materials. The current A5 and A6 are outstandingly well made...and you can have such a huge choice of engines and gearbox's...and it has a much bigger boot and the pictures indicate better rear access... I know what you mean though - all these niceties for the price make the IS so much better VFM than anything else out there which is why I still have mine. In truth, it only needs a good CVT type Auto and the 220d ould be almost perfect. If Lexus could only take an IS250SE body and put in a BMW 330d engine, you would possible have the best Diesel car in the world, the 330d gives us 1000km on about 60 liters of diesel traveling at 140Kph average, whats that in Miles and galons? The 330d has breakneck acceleration and fantastic overtaking ability. Just dont like the new BMW dash looks like a 1948 plymouth unless you ad an Idrive then it looks a bit better. I cant wait for the IS350 to come to this country or a Diesel as above. agree..when i was lookin at purchasin my new car last year..hated the look of the new 3series bm's..even the 5's. look outdated. and merc i didnt like either..drove the new c-class. still doesnt look as nice..only looks nice on exterior if u get the sports model but u get so little compared to lex. lex was much better vfm n looked much better too. the only thing that looks nice out there now is the a4 new model. and possibly the xf.
  2. i must say i like this "updated" version..at some times the steering seems much better..like when u go over uneven surfaces it sticks to its position more..the wheel moves less. and the quietness is nice too...just dont know if its coz its of the tyres..or they've upgraded something internally..? Another strange thing is when i've got the air circulation on and set it to just blow like by the footwells after a certain time it changes to blow to the face level etc. The ac isn't on neither are any auto switches?
  3. just have given my car in for a service..and got a 57 plate is250 se-l..just some differences i noticed..the power steering seems more stiffer..not as light as the previous models...(i've got a 56 plate).also the air vents seems to be of better quality n not so flimsy and it also seems much quieter..might be due to it having the toyo proxes r32 (t1-rs??) tyres as opposed to the bridgstones i've got on mine..other things think already mentioned were the rear seat pockets, the scuff plate lights, and also the updated 07-08 dvd for satnav..any one else know of any others that have driven different year models?
  4. just got a courtesy car and the is250 se-l had toyo's on them. toyo proxes r32. these aint the same as t1-r's are they? are the proxes r32 what come as standard now?
  5. I have just took delivery of the 2008 Lexus IS250 sat nav DVD rom update discs. You get 4! You have to remove the old one to get the part numbers then cross reference it and off you go. I always get the update discs so are familiar with ordering etc. Takes 5 days and arrives via Fedex. I sold the original Lexus 2006 / 2007 disc on EBay for a measly £28.00. Someone got a bargain. Easy to remove if you know how / be VERY careful. Lexus did mine for free to get the information of the disc as there is NO other way of obtaining the disc information without physically ejecting it and taking note of part AND version numbers. I then did it myself when the new ones arrived. Must admit on this particular occasion i don't like the fact that you receive 4 discs in a double twin case. All original of course. Just thought i would share the above as it may be of use to someone as i ALWAYS buy updates for my Lexus cars. the 4 discs..does one of them contain all of UK and some of eu (as does the disc in the 05dvd model) and if u want more detail u put one of the other ones?
  6. nah mine is not blue...the one i was doing a search on the ka57 (is3) reg is blue....will ask my dealer and see what they say

  9. i've got a 56 plate is250 and just searched autotrader for info on my plate and came up as a is250 se-l which is correct. Have done the same for a 57 plate just seen randomly on the road which was registered on 18th jan this year. It came up as a is250 (is3). Anyone know what a is3 is? Did a search on another 57 plate and it just said is250 this was registered on oct 07..any ideas?
  10. glad someone else thinks the new mazda 6 has copied lex is looks :) just like the mondeo has copied aston martins rear. nothing rude bout that :)
  11. how i laughed at that one! i thought everyone with a 220d had the 5th injector replaced. Mines had the 5th injector replaced, shortly due a 30k service. i wonder if i should ask for the engone to be decoked. Not Everyone. Mine hasn't had the fifth injector replaced. I have just had my 60K Km service - so I have plenty of km up. Rattles not an issue for me. Consumption around 37-39mpg about 50/50 urban-long distance. I am happy enough with that. I had problems with brakes at 45K Km - sorted quickly under warranty, and the egr valve had to be replaced - again dealt with quickly under warranty. So far I have been very happy with my dealings with the Lexus dealership. The car seems to be holding its value very well. The salesman was trying to get me to change recently and I was pleasantly surprised by the trade in value. Maybe its time for some of the many satisfied customers to speak up a little. what was wrong with the brakes?
  12. think a few people have mentioned their oil being used up alot on the 20k service thread..
  13. never had any problems like those u mentioned...best take it to lexus to sort out
  14. lol. sure hope u aint a toya agent :) lookin at blackcircles.com at the T1-S are more expensive than the T1-R...strange..will have a look at these and the dunlop sport maxx when i get new ones it looks like.
  15. dazz..what wheels u got? right now on the 17" oem the tyres are front 225-45-R17 90W and Rear 245-45-R17 95W. on the 18" sport ones they are 225 and 255. would it be better to keep the profile at 45 instead of 40? 40 is a lower profile? see a few people with 18's like dazz, wozza, tel all have profile at 40? any ideas?
  16. if the width of the 17"s oem are 8" all around, but the tyres are 225/245 standard on the se/se-l does that mean just the tyre is wider n not the rim? but the 18" sports oem the actual rim is wider too on the rear?? by 0.5"?
  17. rang my local lex dealer and he said the width of the 18" sport wheels for the 250/220 are 8" & 8.5" for rear and for the 17"s they are 8" for both? is the width 8.5 = 50mm offset? got no clue..
  18. ust rang my local lexus dealer and asked bout the engine oil. said by standard the cars come with 10w40 and thats what they put in at service intervals etc which is lexus own branded @ a cost of £32.40 for a 5L bottle. the tank takes 6L. so its a bit more. if u do want the 5w40 from them, its shell branded and costs £35 for 6L. excluding loc discounts. now time to go shoppin and see if i can find any cheaper.
  19. just found another topic bout alloys n sizes n a quote from u Tango.. Wozza..: are the offsets just more on the 18's than the 17's at the back (50mm instead of 45mm)? everything else the same..? not very knowledgeable in this area :( anyone also got a side pic of the 18" sport alloys. cant find a clear one here and ones ive seen are angled. need to do some photoshopping to see if i need to get them or the hoshis
  20. Paid £155 all in for mine, included LOC Gold discount!! It seems to vary from dealer to dealer. Positively a bargain - that was at Leicester. Unless the disel is cheaper to service...??? Anyone know? Also, wasn't the new IS supposed to be cheaper to service than the old one? Lots of noise was being made about mineral oils and the like, yet the dealers tend to stick Mobil1 Super Synth in... do u know which mobil1 super synth they put in urs? what was teh grading? I think it's 0w40. Costco were doing it for £21+vat last year for 4 litres...Halfords do it for £13 for one litre! The User Manual tells you which grades, but I seem to recall that the cars came with 5w30 from the factory, which I couldn't get anywhere - except Shell LongLife for VAG cars. That was £14 p/litre at Halfords! ya 5w30..presumably 0w40 is better than 5w30? how much did lexus charge u for it do u know? i might just get it from oscotts trader here instead of using lexus'. has anyone asked their dealer why mineral oil is not used instead of the super synth?
  21. anyone else changed from the bridgestones to others i.e. dunlop/toyo etc? tango what do u think of the wear/tear rate on the toyo's?
  22. ya 30k for pads seems bout right..not sure how long discs last on average
  23. lexus leicester quoted £210 incl all. same as coventry then.
  24. does anyone actually have a list of what the warranty covers. their website isnt very specific..http://www.lexus.co.uk/lexus_care/warranties/new_lexus/index.asp compared to their US one. in the "does not cover" section it says "....and replacement of worn wiper blades, brake pads/lining and clutch linings". so theres no mention that it doesnt cover the brake discs? also at the top "Any defect that is attributable to a manufacturing or assembly defect under normal use is covered by the warranty."...which u could argue too??
